    Like all rom-coms, YEH JAWAANI HAI DEEWANI sparkles with romance, merriment and heartache, is brightly glossy and boasts of crackling chemistry between its lead actors, but Ayan makes sure the heady concoction never waters down. The best part is, he never borrows from romantic cliches that most love stories depend upon and that, in my opinion, is this film's biggest strength. Expect no unwanted melodrama, no unwelcome characters, no earsplitting background music to accentuate the proceedings... the best thing about YEH JAWAANI HAI DEEWANI is that it's refreshingly unique within the conventional Hindi film format. On the whole, YEH JAWAANI HAI DEEWANI is a revitalizing take on romance and relationships. A wonderful cinematic experience, this one should strike a chord with not just the youth, but cineastes of all age-groups. Watch this celebration of love and get mesmerized!

    Even his love story – a demure girl-next-door who skips her heartbeat for the commitment-phobic boy – isn’t novel, but his leading cast makes it work.To Ayan’s credit, he does the unthinkable and makes the stereotypes work, rather convincingly, through stunning frames and killer tunes.While ‘YJHD’ is formulaic, and nothing exceptional in terms of story, Ayan’s narrative’s got style and flair, and he textures it gorgeously. For most parts, ‘YJHD’ isn’t damaging and does make a fun, frothy buddy flick.If anything, we expected Ayan to stay away from the unpredictable in the end, but that is where he falters. That aside, we’d propose you step out of your homes and allow Ranbir and Deepika to take you on a fun ride that you won’t regret

Even though it has been well over a decade, The Reluctant Fundamentalist still has relevance. It says things the west needs to hear. I hope they do, I hope they get it. On this count, as a thought, Mira Nair could not have chosen a better subject. I suspect the subject chose her, really. But perhaps it is too subtle for this intention and will be far better understood in South Asia. Unfortunately, we already know all of this.

The Reluctant Fundamentalist is ambitious and uneven. Mira embellishes Changez’s story with a memorable soundtrack. But what doesn’t work as well is the flabby love story with a grossly miscast Kate Hudson and the tacked-on framing device of a thriller, which simply isn’t taut enough to be effective. I’m going with three stars for A Reluctant Fundamentalist. I recommend that you make time for the film. It moved me and I think it will move you too.

The beauty of the film lies in the depiction of its protagonist's unspoken words, suppressed emotions and unwavering beliefs. The incredibly talented Riz Ahmed enables the film to deconstruct the meaning of 'fundamentalism', which forms the core of the story. What leaves you in awe of the adapted screenplay is its brilliantly drawn parallels between Changez's personal, political and social situation. You feel his pain, vulnerability, denial, inner turmoil and psychological conflict. The film keeps you thoroughly engaged, even in parts where the pace drops a bit. While the film is more of a thriller, it doesn't cease to be a human drama, thanks to sublime supporting performances.Note: You may not like the film if films on religion and social reality are not your cup of tea.

The films that have come out post-9/11 have been many and various, but Changez's conflicted individual at the centre of the narrative feels both vital and important. The film could have done with more finesse in the way it begins and ends, but there are enough subtle shifts in the main act to keep me with it. After Monsoon Wedding and The Namesake, The Reluctant Fundamentalist is Nair's most engaging work.

But while you may ponder over the particular prism that Mira Nair chooses to look at these issues, you cannot doubt that The Reluctant Fundamentalist is a powerful, gripping/bold film, well worth a watch in the theatre. You may not agree with the film’s message but the message is worth knowing. There are plenty of touches in the film that warm you totally. For a desi, the most enriching moment of the film is when Khan, as an idealistic Lahore University professor, takes on the challenge of teaching a class full of youngsters of the importance of striving for the Pakistani Dream.

Despite the serious tone of the film, its length and the sketchy characters mar the end result from being anything but ordinary. The Reluctant Fundamentalist feels like a package delivered a little too late in the day. Not only have other film makers explored every possible angle and milked out all the possible conspiracy theories surrounding the incident, but the US versus the Muslim world debate seems too forced and rehashed. Fortunately that doesn't stop the cast from delivering the goods.Eventually, The Reluctant Fundamentalist ends up being yet another 9/11 inspired tale with all the expected ingredients, but we wish the film maker had engaged and challenged us a lot more like her previous efforts.

I Don't Luv U is a futile exercise in using a MMS controversy as a tool to lure the audience into watching a half baked script, some cringe worthy scenes and performances that look like an audition gone bad. The second half and the climax is full of prudish statements and ridiculous arguments. Performances are strictly average.I Don't Luv U might have the taken up a relevant topic, but its treatment and execution falls flat.

    The film works fine as a campus romance but that track too gets disrupted by the MMS scandal, which comes painfully late in the movie. Also, the moment you start feeling for the characters, the film enters the 'media bashing' phase, thereon entering altogether different territory. The inconsistency concerning the story disappoints. The film has a lot to offer, especially for youngsters but mentions of too many moralistic issues leave you frustrated. The film tries too hard to cater to the young generation and their dilemmas. The narrative keeps beating around the bush for way too long.

So Epic contains all the familiar trappings, but is nonetheless immensely striking to watch. It may not be ground-breaking as far as the use animation is concerned, but packs a solid punch. The meticulous efforts invested by the makers must be honored by booking a seat in the multiplex for this epic ride. Like all good old fantasy films, Epic is a classic clash between the right and the wrong, between life and decay, between light and the dark.

It is not one of the vintage double-role movies.It is a story of two clans.Director Atul Sabharwal serves us a delicious cocktail of politics,greed and bureaucracy.Rishi Kapoor who is playing a corrupt cop is simply brilliant.His acting truly justifies the title of this film.It is a descriptive tale of today's political and corporate scenario depicting the Indian police in a negative role.With steel solid performances by Arjun,Prithviraj and Jackie this movie holds till the end.Though the storyline is intact but the writing contain some flaws as the movie seems to be stretched a little.If you are expecting some good action stills from this tale of two empires then Aurangzeb might disappoint you on this front.But with a good direction and a demanding second half Aurangzeb deserves a watch !!"

The film retains a lot of the amoral energy of Lurhmann’s Romeo + Juliet. With The Great Gatsby, he plays story teller to the hilt. Although the novel from where the film is adapted, (F. Scott Fitzgerald’s classic) was set in the 1920’s Luhrmann makes the film speak to the 21st century. And he does this by incorporating contemporary music which gives the film a familiar feel. The film does have an ending that’ll suck you into nothingness. However this doesn’t make it any less of a masterpiece, but only elevates it to higher levels of greatness.Verdict: The Great Gatsby is a spectacular film that pays a great homage to emptiness.

If it wasn't a motion picture, then The Great Gatsby would have been a wonderful music video. There are two ways to enjoy Gatsby - one is by checking out the cool soundtrack and realising how amazingly it blends with a period so long ago ('1920'), and the second is to marvel at the sets and costumes. The film is a beginners guide to every wannabe art and costume designer. There are so many OTT moments that you will end up losing count.His much-talked-about project based on a literary classic is all dazzle but lacks soul. The length and pace of the second half make watching the film a tedious experience. Yes, it is stylish and there is colour and shimmer in every frame, but as the end credits roll all that you remember are Jay-Z and Lana Del Rey's melodic verses. And that doesn't bode too well for the film's reputation.

The genuinely exasperating thing is, however, that this film indeed tries doggedly hard to capture the spirit of the book. Not just the vulgar excesses of Gatsby’s frequently flaunted wealth but also its sadness, its yearning. And while the visual circusry propels the first half of the movie to at least the level of an impressively exploding firework, the flourishes mostly dry up in the second half as Luhrmann tries to tell the story of a man and a woman with ill-judged restraint. The romance, told the way it is, comes across more infantile than fabulous.What he might not have approved of, though, is the way Luhrmann appropriates and trivialises those exquisite, immortal last lines from the novel. Just so his film can look at itself in the mirror and preen some more.

Beehad attempts to present the story of the dreaded dacoits of the Chambal Valley during the time they looted and pillaged the land along the Beehad River Valley and roamed unchallenged. All the real-life elements that one might expect to see in such a film - revenge killings, debauchery and so on - are there, but the film flounders. Scenes are needlessly stretched and some situations, overly dramatised. The idea and intention behind this film was probably sound, but the execution falls far short of what this movie could actually have turned out to be.

A forest inhabited by tiny dwellers, an eccentric genius scientist obsessed with discovering their existence, and an estranged father-daughter relationship. These are some of the elements cobbled together in Epic. Yes, the ingredients are in place but somehow, it doesn't engage you at the emotional level that say, a Toy Story did. And neither does it present something truly unique as Wall-E did. Other than that, the film is adequate. It's sometimes slapstick, sometimes emotional, and funny at times. All in all though, the ambitiously-titled Epic is in fact anything but epic.

Imagine being armed with some of the finest performers and a killer story that weaves them all in delightfully, yet dishing out something that’s shockingly mediocre. Even though his ‘Aurangzeb’ flaunts its share of strong performances and a storyline that shocks and thrills along the way, yet it falters and fumbles in so many ways, leaving us shockingly disappointed. ‘Aurangzeb’ centres around a top cop as he shadows real estate tycoon Yashwardhan to uncover his unlawful life. Call it his overenthusiasm or his lack of cinematic wisdom, Atul attempts to say a (whole) lot in two-hours-and-twenty-minutes. ‘Aurangzeb’ is unforgivably half-baked and falls short of being a classic. What it does pack is some stellar performances and a promise of better movies in the future

    Speaking of comedy, the humour is clean and works in parts, although most of it looks dated and naive. The execution and treatment given to the film doesn't look like it's been made keeping the present-day audience in mind. The modest production value doesn't help either. The film has a touch of Priyadarshan-esque comedy, where characters keep chasing each other. The second half is high on emotions and drama. The story has a heart but overall, it's something you have seen before, thus making the film look a tad jaded. This formulaic comedy of errors won't make you laugh out loud but it doesn't bore you either.

Frankly, Gippi's could be yours, mine, anybody's story. Many of us go through a phase that's between teens and adulthood. Films like GIPPI talk to every parent, every child since kids, generally, at that age, don't know how to deal with situations and challenges that life throws at them. The feeling of insecurity, anxiety, edginess that one experiences during those years is delightfully captured through the various kids in the film. On the whole, GIPPI is a credible take on the 'coming-of-age' variety of movies. This one's straight from the heart. Sweet, simple, emotionally engaging, heart-warming cinema!

The film will grab you from the opening shot and not let go. Despite a running time of over two hours, you won't feel as though you've been watching for that long because there's not a wasted nanosecond. Its pace is frenetic but not exhausting. J.J. Abrams sure knows how to make his films with style and the stunts in here are pretty awesome. Far from being superficial, the story and plot underscoring the breathtaking visual effects is solid. What you see is what you get, and this is one heck of a good entertainer. Don't miss it. Note: You may not like this film if you are not into Star Trek movies or fast-paced action/sci-fi films.

Sonam Nair's 'coming of puberty' film handles simple issues sensitively, though it doesn't delve too deep. The subtlety appeals, but we wish there was more drama packed in the second half, with a better climax. Teenagers will probably find a slice of their life in Gippi, and adults might protest to such 14-somethings extreme indulgences in fashion, hot-bods and green-tea diets. The mom-daughter moments exude emotions and shed the typical broken-home baggage. Overall, a simple story that stays pre-pubescent and doesn't quite grow into the high-school of stories. Moral: Be yourself, love yourself - fat, frumpy or Gippi!

Go Goa Gone is positively different from anything you seen before. And for the young and restless(tattooed, ring-pierced, rave-party enthusiasts) or even those who like whacked-out fun, it's a great ride. With easy performances from Kunal, Saif, Vir and Anand and the crackerjack dialogue, the film will keep you in splits for the most part. What is a little tiring though,is the pace of the zombies, who are a bit too monotonous. Sachin-Jigar's Babaji ki booti adds to the mood, almost tempting you to light up and lie back. The shores of Goa and Mauritius seem enticing enough. However some of the situations in GGG are repititive. Hence, the laughs that were coming spontaneously till a point become a bit forced at some juncture.
