Get ready for a pure nautanki with ‘Nautanki Saala’ this week. Mind you, the title here is very apt. But the bigger question here is: does this nautanki impress?

Ram Parmar (Ayushman Khurana) is an actor cum director. He strongly believes in a Chinese proverb which says: “Agar aap kisi ki zindagi bachao, toh uski zindagi aapki aa ho jaati hai” (If you save a person’s life, he owes his life to you). That belief changes it all for him. He saves the life of Mandar Lele (Kunal Roy Kapur) who is attempting a suicide because of his ex-girlfriend Nandini (Pooja Salvi). Because our hero has the habit of doing good to people, Ram searches for Nandini so that he could revive Mandar’s life. But what happens when he himself falls for Nandini?? What happens to his friendship with Mandar??

The biggest problem with ‘Nautanki Saala’ is its slow pace in spite of a short running time of 130 minutes. The movie is only good in parts. There are just a few moments of laughter. The director had all the valuable assets for a good movie but they are just not efficiently utilized. This is a waste of an opportunity.

Inspite of a bad script and loose direction, one person you would want to admire after watching the film is definitely Ayushman Khurana. He is as good as the last film: so natural and terrific. Kunal Roy Kapur does his work with utmost honesty. Pooja Salvi looks so lovely on the big screen. And not to forget those lovely songs: Mera Mann, Sadi Gali and Tu Hi Tu.

Watch ‘Nautanki Saala’ if you really love Ayushman Khurana. He will not disappoint you as an actor. Though if you’re expecting some real fun, this is definitely not what you’re looking for.
