When a film announces loud and clear all that it wants to do is be in service of its hero, and make him as larger than life as possible, we accept it and all that we expect from it is to entertain us. But when it takes almost three hours to narrate its all-too familiar story with easily predictable twists and underwritten characters in a non-engaging fashion, it becomes a painful watch. Anjaan takes its own sweet time to start and wrap. Though not much time is spent on how Raju and Chandru became a name to be feared, the Raju Bhai phenomenon is given the typical cliched hype almost till the second half. The predictable climax makes the whole product less impactful. One palpable connect towards the denouement is a life saver. Anjaan goes to the list of, 'Could have been better' movies. Verdict: Suriya and Anjaan, let down by the screenplay!

In the age of variety its amusing to see the kind of henchmen clad in suits, kidnapping the heroine to a broken brickland, repetitive dialogues, monotonous threats, stereotypical villains, abrupt song placements and why Soori? Why Bramanandam?, and finally the length. Looking back at the film, Lingusamy has a lot in store to take back as his homework, for the movie fails to impress you as a whole. To sum up, Anjaan would be in the list of movies that could have been etched better. Barring a few twists and turns, does entertain Suriya fans to an extent and leaves out the rest. Verdict : A commercial entertainer might not go beyond Suriya's fan base!

Suriya is the saving grace in otherwise a slow moving film. Vidyut has a meaty role and he is ok. One of the major drawbacks of the film is its length, nearly 3 hours. The first half runs away with an interesting intro, the supercute Samantha and some neatly made action sequences. Lingusamy’s trump card is played at the interval scene, which brings out what he is truly capable of. The stage is set for a fast and furious second half. But to everybody’s disappointment, it doesn’t end up being what it intended to and finishes off at the cliff of a pit.Anjaan is not a bad film. I’m just sad that hasn’t turned out to be the film it could have been. Suriya carries this on his shoulders just like he always does, but you do need some help from the others if you wish to churn out a stellar product. The don here is dapper, but his story? Good. And that’s about it.

The story is set against the familiar backdrop of Mumbai. Lingusamy's attempt to create a "Badshah" out of Suriya has missed the mark. The story revolves around 'Raju bhai' played by Suriya who commands respect and fear in equal measures among the people of Mumbai. This half-baked don tale supposedly loaded with twists, turns, loyalty, treachery, risky action sequences ends up being a stale affair due to poor screenplay. Lingusamy's writing is a big let-down with scenes and twists along predictable lines. The writing department and script are weak while punch dialogues may evoke unintentional laughter

What I especially enjoyed in Singham Returns were its stray moments of clever, unexpected humor. Twice our hero takes it on the chin when his girlfriend, and an officer in his team, makes a joke about his age. In another scene, when Gupte’s dhongi Baba rattles off lines from the Bhagwad Gita to him, Singham quotes from the Indian Penal Code in response. At 2 hours and 22 minutes, Singham Returns feels long and occasionally plodding. There are some nice scenes that inspire police pride, but the predictable story tires you out eventually. I’m going with two-and-a-half out of five.

The plot rumbles with action of seismic proportions, shot grandly in signature Shetty style - high-voltage stunts, death-defying combats, men and machines bursting into flames - served bloody, gritty and unadulterated. No it wasn’t a horror film, but it shocked me to see a Rohit Shetty film so devoid of fun.  Not novel, frequently bizarre with some really lame vintage jokes to poke fun, the dude can amuse you surely. But when that fun factor is sucked out of his film, assume that something has gone gravely amiss. Singham Returns is a shabby replica of its earlier edition, working on the same contours, never stretching the plotline nor trying anything new.

Like you, I too can't leave my brains behind and laugh off the painful loud nonsense that mercilessly spools out for three long hours. So if your idea of entertainment is a dog biting a man's crotch, a father's suggestion to his daughter to get married to someone who doesn't have limbs so that she can pack him in a bag and take him shopping, then the film will work for you. For me it's insensitive and regressive.I might not understand the quintessential masala movies but Entertainment in that genre delivers well and will soon make it to the coveted 100 crore club

In spite of the heart-warming story and execution, things do get predictable as it won't take you long to guess who the villain is. However that doesn't hinder its impact, thanks to spectacular performances, special effects and 3D. Also, the visual effects here do not overshadow the emotions or content. Each character has been neatly etched and detailed. You feel for their loss and fear. Very few films have a soul, style and substance and this is one of those rare films.Emotionally intense, deeply absorbing and visually engaging, DOTPOTA is a solid build-up to another deserving sequel. If not anything, you must watch it for Caesar aka motion capture maestro Andy Serkis. He is the 'Godfather' here.

Reeves utilises the thrill-a-minute skills he displayed so effectively in his earlier films to great effect in Dawn..., while still staying true to the sci-fi fantasy canvas required for a film like this. In effect, the film stays true to its predecessor’s style, which is perhaps disappointing if one was looking for Birdman-like pizzazz from this movie. However, this doesn’t stop Reeves from inserting some beautiful sequences that stay with you long after the film is done. But seriously, everything described above, as efficient and beautiful as it all is, pales in comparison to the genius that is the motion-capture performance by Serkis.

The strength of Shashank's debut film (tribute to 'DDLJ') is the performances and characters, whether it is Humpty-Kavya's cutesy, charming chemistry or the unbeatable boy-gang bonding with Shonty and Poplu. Unlike the characters, the story doesn't enthuse or grow beyond the original plot, but it's pinned with warm, delightful moments and laughable dialogues. HSKD has plenty of feel-good moments, but nothing that will leave you punch-drunk. For romantics who believe in their dils and their dulhaniyas - and the quintessential 'Ja, jee le apni zindagi'! - it's a sweet watch (beware the sugar rush!).

Shashank also steers clear of full-scale melodrama, loud and familiar masala and earsplitting background score, which could've seeped in naturally, given the genre of the film. He keeps it subtle, but makes sure the film wins you over. On the whole, HUMPTY SHARMA KI DULHANIA is a beautifully textured love story that wins you over. There's no stopping this one from hitting the bull's eye. Sure-shot winner!

Yes, director Shashank Khaitan’s chaotic love story is more about finding the perfect ‘lehenga’ and less about love.Despite some good performances and a few wonderfully written lines, ‘Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhaniya’ stops from being an endearing tale of love, because it blindly piggybacks on the classic without any heart or logic. It’s much ado about a lehenga!

The drama has tragedy and gloominess written all over it and this would restrict the film’s appeal to an extent. Although the film is targeted at the youth, the tragedy may not appeal universally because today’s youngsters prefer watching happy films. Had the tragic hero been a big star, it would’ve been a different case as the star’s charisma would have added to the appeal of the character.On the whole, Aashiqui 2 is an entertaining film with hit music and the sacrificing nature of the heroine as it biggest trump cards. It will keep its distributors smiling.

The film may keep the audience screaming in their seats but it will not keep the distributors smiling in theirs, mainly because it has started on a shockingly low note and, as is common knowledge, the business of the first three days is what matters the most.
