It's hard to call Welcome Back a new Anees Bazmee film when it has its foot so firmly entrenched in all things old.

A raggedy bunch of ever-cool veteran actors -- Nana Patekar, Anil Kapoor, Paresh Rawal, Dimple Kapadia and Naseeruddin Shah -- all playing dons and liars and people with unpredictable, malicious intent?

Even the pop-culture references are straight from the 90s (with Nadeem-Shravan being name-checked instead of Honey Singh) and thanks to the way Patekar and Kapoor have staved off ageing, it'd be easy to mistake this film for one of many unremarkable David Dhawan farces from way back when.
Which, honestly, is not an entirely bad thing.

We live in an age where the loudest hits are the stupidest, when scripts of mainstream cinema rise to no greater calling than tom-tomming the name of an overpaid superstar.

The hammy films of the 80s and 90s boasted at least of intricate (if formulaic) story-lines, and if there's one thing Welcome Back is not guilty of, it is a lack of plot.

Give a bunch of good actors enough meat and it doesn't even matter where you point the camera, they'll conjure up something watchable.
Alas, in the middle of real actors steps John Abraham.

We see him first during some horrid song, festooned in viagra-themed blue confetti unable to shake up his flaccid performance.

Abraham, grinning lopsidedly and trying to go 'street', looks visibly uncomfortable: think Neil Nitin Mukesh trying to do a Ranveer Singh impression.

The results are predictably far from pretty.

But Bazmee, bless his soul, gives Abraham very little to do and, even better, very few scenes to do it in.
But then there enters the woefully talentless Shruti Haasan, clutching a fistful of rakhees and looking crestfallen, possibly trying to remember her lines, shattering hopes of a good film to smithereens soon as she appears.

Haasan is a miraculously bad actress, a blank-faced ingenue mouthing lines with maddening monotony.

She might occasionally look a bit like her luminous mother Sarika, but the genes have failed this child rather cruelly.
The story is an absurdly silly one, but told at a thankfully brisk clip.

Gangsters Uday Bhai (Patekar) and Majnu Bhai (Kapoor) have now gone straight, and are now Dubai-based hotel-magnates trying to make an earnest living.

They also want to find a bride, and some tacky girl calling herself a princess captures their fancy.

Meanwhile, they have just been saddled with a sister, played by Haasan, for whom they must find a suitable boy.

The boy they seek out happens to be, naturally, Abraham the lout. But there are… complications.
It all sounds quite unwatchable -- and some parts certainly are -- but thanks to the astoundingly fit elder statesmen in charge, Welcome Back provides its share of ludicrous laughs.
There are few sequels that are as good as the previous one. Welcome Back is one of them. Anil Kapoor and Nana Patekar are back as Majnu and Uday Bhai, respectively. There’s a slight change though; they have left their gangster days behind and are now trying to be shareef. They are further burdened with the task of getting their sister Ranjana (Shruti Hassan) married for whom arrives Ajju (John Abraham), stepson of Dr. Ghunghroo (Paresh Rawal) as a match

Anil Kapoor and Nana Patekar, playing paragons of brotherly love and men of thundering tempers, are superb.

Kapoor wears outrageous sunglasses, a winner's scowl and is infectiously joyful when winning at a graveside game of antakshari

Patekar, daftly giggly during that same scene, is at his best when pensive or exhausted, sitting back wearily on a table when the chaos hits a crescendo.

In the last film he played a don with acting aspirations; in this one, after much madness, he asks the man holding the gun what he thought of his acting.
Those two are priceless enough to make this worth a watch, and the other veterans wangle themselves some random moments.

Paresh Rawal, in the middle of this atrocious plot, can still come off as a sincerely outraged everyman, Naseeruddin Shah goes full-Mohra as a blind man who likes leaping over steps, and I may forever be haunted by the image of Dimple Kapadia flying through a sandstorm, eyes wild and hair akimbo.
Some of the wordplay holds up surprisingly well, like a bit about how 'gun' (virtue) and 'gun' share the same spelling, and Kapoor's riffs about how he let go of his style, his 'kaayde', before he could make his gangs, his Al Qaaed-e.

But those are rare moments slipped into in a film proud of its puerility.

The first film had Akshay Kumar to shoulder all the buffoonery, and while even that only added up to a barely watchable film, here Abraham is an utter trainwreck and the Hassan girl doesn't help.
Still, Welcome Back is dumb yet entertaining, utterly silly but made with a kind of absurd, warm energy.

It's actually amusing even if it goes on far too long, and while I don't recommend going to a theatre to watch this mess, you'll sure get your money's worth watching it on TV.

Plus, there's something to be said for a film where the climax features a cute peach microlight bringing about a bunch of killer drones.

If only this were shorter, crisper, a bit smarter, with just a touch more… um, control, Mr Bazmee, control.

"Tu kisi rail si guzarti hai, main kisi pul saa thartharaataa hun"
Masaan is a ballad of grief, inevitably born out of love, of pain that germinates inextricably with affection. They seem poles apart, much like a young shoot and the root, until death brings ends together, in its odd way.

Director Neeraj Ghaywan does an excellent job of portraying complex relationships and emotions. A father-daughter's relationship, while dealing with shame owing to a sex scandal that the daughter seems to get caught-up in. All this in the backdrop of Uttar Pradesh's conservative Benaras and the ghats of Ganga. It is not easy to depict grief, mourning, gathering the self from the memory of incomplete conversations, and letting go. He has achieved it.

Ghaywan stitches two separate story lines that run absolutely parallel, seamlessly, never meeting, until the end. Major credit goes to the lyricist and writer Varun Grover for the dialogues. Benarasi flavour remains soothingly intact and the soundtrack is by far the best thing I have heard all year. His inspiration from poet Dushyant Kumar is evident in the salutation via the background score, composed and delivered by Swanand Kirkire and Indian Ocean. Could it get any better? I assure you, it can't.
Masaan throws forward how India, especially a small town deals with sex, gender, caste, crushes, love, dignity and shame. How sex is attached with shame, a relentless corrupt cop who shows up for bribe installments to keep the 'sex-scandal' from blowing up; how if a woman has had sex with a man and that becomes talk of the town, then she is rendered approachable. As one character asks her "degi kya? usey bhi to diya tha tune." And how losing one who you have loved is gut-wrenching, and how you need to deal with it yourself. TV news forms the backdrop in some scenes, interestingly. A silence filler.

http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x2z7c6f_masaan-full-movie-richa-chadda-sanjay-mishra-shweta-tripathi_fun

It is incredible to have packed all this in a span of less than two hours. All the characters, including the cameos, are extremely well done. Richa Chadda established herself with Gangs Of Wasseypur and has done a splendid performance as Devi Pathak. Vicky Kaushal and Shweta Tripathi are worthy of a special mention for the extremely cute, shy love-story they weave together. Sanjay Mishra holds the film together with a remarkable and endearing portrayal of an old burdened father. It is impossible not to pause and marvel at him during the movie. Such brilliance!
Masaan is not a heavy or a sad movie. It is relatable, especially if you grew up in a small town in North India, or alternately when you felt the first rush of love. Voices of Swanand Kirkire and Indian Ocean's Amit Kilam, Rahul Ram, Himanshu Joshi are kneaded so well into the narrative, that you might find yourself brimming during a few moments, especially when Mann Kasturi plays out.
Watch Masaan to know what a great movie feels like! Not for nothing did it win two awards at Cannes Film Festival. I leave you with the wistful soundtrack.

When you are faced with mortal danger, you can either fight or flee. NH 10 takes us on a journey in which both fleeing and fighting struggle for space, till the time comes to stop running.
When young, attractive, urban professional Meera (Anushka Sharma) urges her husband (Neil Bhoopalam) to run away from the men who are terrorising them, she is doing what instinctively comes to most of us. When she turns around to face the enemy, we want to cheer. Because this is a lone woman in a man’s world, the kind of world where women are killed before they are born, or dumped, after they draw their first breath, in rubbish bins. It is the land of the Khaps, where caste and gender determine whether you will live or die. Or, worse, how you will live and die.
.
The build-up in Navdeep Singh’s second feature is so tight, so tense, so horrifying that you can’t blink. NH 10 goes through Haryana, which is about as far as it can get from the upscale Gurgaon highrises people like Meera and Arjun occupy: as a character tells Meera, “jahaan aapke Gurgaon ka border khatam hota hai, wahan law khatam, maddam”.

A run-in with a bunch of violent men who are seen abducting a young couple begins a spiral in which Meera and Arjun sink deeper and deeper, with no reprieve in sight. Gunplay results in an accidental death, and the bunch, led by Satbir (Darshan Kumaar), turns upon the two with murderous intent.

NH10 Official Trailer Anushka Sharma, Neil... by AmazingVideosScoop
The movie’s masterstroke is to keep the audience squirming and the tension relentless by setting nearly 90% of the film in overwhelmingly linear fashion.

It makes the events feel like they’re taking place in realtime, but this takes its toll on Sharma who -- also brave enough to produce this film -- features in virtually every frame of the film and carries it on her athletic shoulders.

It is a bold choice as an actress and Anushka is at her absolute best as her eyes widen in disbelief at the growing horror around her.

A moment when she realises the preposterousness of goading a policeman into “doing his duty” is particularly stunning, as is a rousing scene later where she yells at her attackers.

She’s beaten down, on the run, powerless and defiant, and Anushka changes gears with immense authenticity, creating a character we can’t help but love.

And, more importantly, one we can’t help but feel for.

Here's what we do know about Detective Byomkesh Bakshi. Set in 1943, during the World War II, the trailer begins with the Japanese bombarding Calcutta harbour. With its dense shadows and bold splashes of colour, everything about the trailer is mysterious. Banerjee doesn't let us see much of Byomkesh, but we do get a glimpse of his leg and we see his silhouette striking a rather passionate pose with a woman. If there is a film that Detective Byomkesh Bakshi seems vaguely reminiscent of, then it's Shakti Samanta's Howrah Bridge.

Detective Byomkesh Bakshy - TRAILER #2... by AmazingVideosScoop
Dibakar Banerjee unveiled a teaser for his upcoming release, Detective Byomkesh Bakshi and it's nothing like what most people would have imagined of Saradindu Bandopadhyay's creation. Starring Sushant Singh Rajput, Detective Byomkesh Bakshi is a mystery set in the 1940s. Take a look at the trailer here:

Understandably, there's a lot of curiosity about Detective Byomkesh Bakshi and there was some speculation that Banerjee had chosen to make this film because of the success of the BBC television series, Sherlock. In a recent interview, Banerjee denied this and said that he finds the comparisions between Byomkesh and Sherlock Holmes ridiculous. "Byomkesh is an original Indian character," said the director.
True enough, but from the little that we see of Detective Byomkesh Bakshi, it seems Banerjee may not be walking the talk. For some reason, Rajput's Byomkesh pronounces the 'y' that is actually silent in his name. Not just that, he's clearly taking a leaf out of James Bond's stylebook when he announces himself as, "Bakshi, Byomkesh Bakshi.
While the teaser is very brief short and doesn't even give us a proper glimpse of Rajput's Byomkesh beyond his sock-clad shin, what we do know is that the film is set in the 1940s and includes, among other things, Asian people and Calcutta. Using his old ploy of choosing a contrasting genre of music as the background score, Banerjee strikes gold with English rock music providing the sonic backdrop to the rich, vintage noir of the visuals.

YRF has opened this movie in only 769 screens mostly multiplexes and a few single screens. It will only move to more single screens from next week.

Dum laga ke Hiasha has opened lower than Ab Tak Chappan 2 since it has larger number of screens.

Dum Laga Ke Haisha had good word of mouth and reviews and should improve on weekend to have a chance at the box office.

Dum laga ke Haisha is made on a small budget of 13 Crore inclusive of prints and advertising.

YRF has not done too much marketing for the movie and has been relying on reviews and digital marketing to do business.

Ayushman's last few films had failed to do well and hence this movie is important for him

It needs to do a business  of 15 crores to cover all its costs.

Dum Laga ke Haisha Hindi Movie Review

Ratings:3.5/5 Review By:  Rajeev Masand Site:CNN IBN
Dum Laga Ke Haisha sucks you into its world with well-etched characters, beautiful cinematography, perfectly detailed production design, and a host of fine actors.Simple and breezy, while at the same time evocative of life in small-town India, Dum Laga Ke Haisha is a charming film that you really shouldn’t miss. I’m going with three-and-a-half out of five.

And so it goes, a truly simple story. So simple, in fact, that Dum Laga Ke Haisha never gives you a single moment of unpredictability. It’s a two-hour film, and yet drags its feet enough to feel long and stretched. There are superb actors performing a sweet script, but after a while all you have is flavour. And we have tasted it before.

This film might further the cause of breaking away from the bastion but it reeks of predictability. Sharat Kataria pulls off a quaint-yet-flawed film. But in the end, it isn't extraordinary, failing to rise above the idea that a fat girl needs some schmuck to complete her life. Undeniably, the smarts are visible in its original thinking but it doesn't translate into a satiating viewing experience.

Dum Laga Ke Haisha banks on Bhumi to make her character accessible enough to relate yet spirited enough to inspire. The newcomer doesn’t let you down and renders Sandhya worth rooting for, racing for. If her feisty side tackles her new home singlehandedly, the incorrigible romantic cannot resist catching fond glimpses of her grumpy husband from the corner of the eye.

The film tells a slice-of-life love story that is exceptionally unconventional, and not simply because of the heroine's body type. The film itself is of the sort that delights in its humanity, a trait deeply embedded in its core.YRF hasn't produced a better film in years. Dum Laga Ke Haisha is more than just a must-watch. It should to be held up as an example of what a mainstream Bollywood banner can achieve when it lends its clout to an out-of-the-box idea executed by a director who clearly knows his onions better than most in the business today.

The first thing you should know about ‘Dum Laga Ke Haisha’ is that it has a story. Verily, the thing that movies ought to have before they get made, the very thing that Bollywood forgets, unbelievably, so often. The story is the basis of a solid, honest-to-goodness script, a lead couple that wins you over gradually but surely, and a bunch of actors who know exactly where they are at.

Do you want a warm, fuzzy feeling that lasts for about two hours? Then don't miss this beauty called 'Dum Lagaa Ke Haisha'. The delicious irony is that this film which simply but poignantly speaks about how beauty is beyond what you see, is truly beautiful in every which way; the heart warming story, the stellar performances of every character in the film, the lyrics, the music, the ambience, the dialogues and above all, the steady handed, clear headed direction.

However the story of the film leaves a lot to be desired. Sharat, who seems very confident with the camera and its angles, is definitely one name to watch out for in the days to come. Even though the film has its 'could-have-been-better' moments, the film scores on the director's ability to extract performances from the star cast. The only problem, however, is that the film starts lagging in places, which could have been taken care on the editing table. On the whole, DUM LAGA KE HAISHA is a simple film that will make you smile.

Surprisingly, YRF’s most honest film amongst the recent times. It is a great script filled with nostalgia for those who have grown up in the bygone era of 80s and 90s. There is incredible detailing of characters and it is enough to find an instant connect. Dum Laga Ke Haisha could be a mirror for quite a lot people who have first hand experience of such situations.

Director Katariya keeps things very simple, yet entertaining and relatable. If you’ve had first hand experience with a situation like the one in which the film’s lead couple find themselves, they’ll find enough to appreciate in Dum Laga Ke Haisha. For the rest, it’s a chance to revisit a lost decade and revive our interest in Yash Raj Films. It’s good to know that the production house that brings us over-the-top spectacles like the Dhoom films can make something small, hilarious and straight from the heart.

Sandhya says you got worried for your baby and Emily worried for her family, then did they think once about Bhabho, you have put her in fire of regret, she was crying, and got unwell. She asks them did they think before playing such cheap game, we all got worried. She says Emily did not tell her parents too and calls them selfish. Emily s mum says if we get such news, think what we go through.
She says what you both did was wrong, Sandhya is right, so I supported her in this drama. Emily says we did not wish to cheat them, but wanted to come back in family. Sooraj says its good way to repent, Mohit was madly thinking about you and crying, did you think of your daughter, she cried a lot. He says my Bhabho, what did she do, she was blaming herself all the while, when she did not do anything.\

Sandhya explains them that to forgive, they have to bend, not make others bend to you. Sooraj says running from family and hurting yourself, blackmailing family to get forgiveness is being coward, such forgiveness is by force. They both explain them what they did, and they have done this to make them value what they were losing. Sooraj says Emily would have really lost her family if we did not come to Delhi and saw her accident.

Meenakshi and Emily apologize to Babasa and Bhabho, and say we are ashamed, we want out family, nothing else. They say we will not be separated now. Bhabho forgives them. She asks them to see what their mistake did. Meenakshi and Emily smile and apologize to everyone. Bhabho says like every color in holi is incomplete without all, our family is also like that. They all promise to be together. Bhabho does tilak to all.

She says listen to me once. Taisa gives her laddoos and asks her not to give anyone, its special laddoos for them. Sandhya starts eating the laddoos and like it. For past few years YRF has been producing flicks with majorly small towns in the backdrop. No wonder this step is yielding good results and so they don’t mind following this formula. This time they present Dum Laga Ke Haisha, a conventional love story set in Haridwar, which has equal measures of fun, romance and ultimately entertainment.

The story revolves around Sandhya Verma (Bhumi Pednekar), and Prem Prakash Tiwari (Ayushmann Khurrana). Sanhhya is an influential school teacher in Haridwar but is upset with her excessive
weight of 85 kgs. Prem Prakash Tiwari is huge Kumar Sanu fan and runs an audio cassette shop. The one person he is afraid of is his father (Sanjay Mishra) who assumes him as ‘good for nothing’.

Circumstances or rather say a promise that his parents had made to a friend years ago force Prem to get hitched to extra large Sandhya. As expected he is clearly embarrassed of her and with no solution but to continue his marital life, Prem keeps a safe distance from Sandhya.

Stars- Ayushmann Khurrana, Bhumi Pednekar
Director- Sharat Katariya
Music- Anu Malik

The innocent Sandhya however, is trying hard to make her husband happy but Prem is least pleased by all her attempts. The irritation between this unusual pair wasn’t enough that now Prem’s mother asks him to participate in a race competition with his wife. However, he once again surrenders to his family’s adamant wish, but this time he doesn’t disappoint them.

So, will he prove his family what he is capable of? And will Prem and Sandhya find true love together through this competition? Find out all in Dum Laga Ke Haisha.

Sharat Katariya noted for writing Bheja Fry, Hum Tum Shabana, marks an impressive directorial debut with the flick, which is made with heart. He has a good grip on the screenplay while the execution is well graphed.

However, earlier too there have been movies dealing with the unusual pairs and most of them have been truly magnificent with their final outcome. Dum Laga Ke Haisha keeping the premise similar lays a different result. The odd pairing of Sandhya an XL lady and comparatively linear Prem is humorous and emotional as well.

There are usual happenings that are presented on screen. Like in small towns it’s still prevalent that couples are not allowed to utter a word apart from their parents when it’s the matter of their marriage. Prem’s dream of owing a beautiful wife is shattered when his father forces upon him a heavyweight wife. It’s a usual state, which still is common in society and is beautifully presented on screen by the director.
Odd pairing isn’t an issue but it’s the understanding and compatibility, which matters the most in a marital life. Sharat Katariya deals with this simple thought through an extra-ordinary measure in Dum Laga Ke Haisha.
There is more in life beyond facing embarrassment of being a strange couple. It’s love and commitment from your partner that could overcome any deed in real life.

Katariya delivers this message in a light-hearted manner and quirky dialogues.

And Ayushmann Khurrana and Bhumi Pednekar make this drama more real. Ayushmann once again gives a brilliant performance. The actor may have been let down by bad script previously but this time he isn’t.

Debutant actress Bhumi is the soul of the flick. You feel pity for her, you laugh on her foolishness while she lures her onscreen husband and ultimately you fall in love with her.

Backbone of the movie is its supporting cast. Sanjay Mishra, Alka Amin, Sheeba Chaddha, Seema Pahwa and Sanjeeva Vatsa make up a great family together and present a great show.

Music by Anu Malik is good. Dard Karara is our pick from the album. Dum Laga Ke Haisha is a good family watch and should slowly gain popularity among the masses.

Dum Laga Ke Haisha will hit the screens on February 27, 2015.

Egerton delivers and Jackson is perfect as the villain Valentine whose environmentally-conscious concerns conceal a devious plan for global genocide. His sidekick Gazelle (Boutella) is a vamp plucked straight out a Quentin Tarantino wet dream as does a scene involving hyper-stylized mayhem in a small-town church. Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker, anyone?) also shows up as a genius scientist. Bulletproof brollies that fire bullets, dart spewing wristwatches and cigarette lighter grenades aside, there's a smooth balance of good humo u r, butt-kicking action and originality too. Kingsman: The Secret Service is a breath of fresh air in the spy movie genre..

Kingsman: The Secret Service delivers knockout blows and finally we have an action film without the existential drama that most of them seem to exude. Taron and Colin Firth are a wonderful team. One is the young disciple who needs training and the other, the master-spy. Kingsman: The Secret Service is a glorious collection of everything good about spy films and none of the political correctness. In the end, you will walk out of the theatre feeling like a gentleman spy. How awesome is that?
