Rang Rasiya Movie Review
While the film moves at a fairly quick pace throughout, the climax seems to be a little stretched. Sometimes adapting an entire book in a span of approximately 120 minutes can prove to be an almost impossible task and RANG RASIYA too seems to be a victim of it.  On the whole, RANG RASIYA is for the artistic and creative people who believe in freedom of expression but it surely won't woo the janta who are looking for entertainment and a getaway this weekend.

Rang Rasiya is a colourful triumph, director Ketan Mehta meriting applause for his portrait of painter Raja Ravi Varma, skillfully blending a biopic, a period film, a love story and a social critique, within a tight frame. Rang Rasiya portrays Varma as India's first cultural rock-star, adored, attacked, commercial, inspired, excited and challenged by a new consciousness he sees - and shapes. Vitally, Rang Rasiya emphasizes Raja Ravi Varma's commitment to the freedom of ideas which creates philosophy, science and liberated love, ephemeral, yet lasting - like the pages of his calendars.

Rang Rasiya is by no means a perfect film, but for the manner in which it tackles an extensive range of important themes related to the place of art in a tradition-bound society, it is an impressive achievement. This film has been in the cans for several years, but given the timelessness of the story it tells and the crucial issues it addresses, it has lost none of its relevance. Rang Rasiya is as good a film as any you have, or will, see this year. Strongly recommended.

However, as I watched Raja fund young Dadasaheb Phalke's moving-picture dreams, the meta-ness is hard to ignore: I was watching an ordinary cinematic representation of an artist indirectly responsible for us watching films at all. What if he hadn't been generous to the future Father of Indian cinema? Would we be in a position to gauge the uniformity of his legacy? Perhaps not.

Ketan, I am glad you are out of your circumstantial hibernation because you still tell a story more beautifully than most, but, this is not one of your best. I give it 3 stars mainly for the message.

Ketan Mehta has done a commendable job as Rang Rasiya is far ahead of its contemporaries, which are still dealing with insane item numbers and illogical heists.Rang Rasiya is much more than just a period film. It’s a statement on behalf of people who reject intolerance and are continuously striving for a new India which will give space to free voice. It’s a piece of art.

Ketan Mehta doesn’t shirk from taking the pique stand in telling a well blended tale about love, passion, virtue, chastity and he brooding demand to adhere to social norms, bringing into relevance of Raja Ravi Varma’s story which is more than a century old. Mehta’s line of thought was simple, while gadgets and technology is progressing, our minds are still not free from the shackles of primitive thinking. This is one Ketan’s most effortless, most nuanced and most impactful works and definitely one of recent times’ most powerful and moving films, I had the good fortune of watching.

The film takes a while to gather momentum and begin to underscore the principal conflict points in the legendary artist's career.

The narrative is marked by metaphorical blotches of darkness - these add multiple layers to the forceful drama and serve as counterpoints to the overwhelming beauty that cinematographer Anil Mehta puts on the screen.

The film swings from the highs represented by the untrammeled passion that drives the process of creativity to the lows brought on by the myopic interventions of self-appointed guardians of conventional religious belief and morality, and glides across much else in between.

Rang Rasiya is by no means a perfect film, but for the manner in which it tackles an extensive range of important themes related to the place of art in a tradition-bound society, it is an impressive achievement.

The film, which has been adapted from Ranjit Desai's Marathi biography of Raja Ravi Varma, probes multiple themes - freedom of expression, religious bigotry, deeply ingrained caste and class divides, and the dilemma of a woman who dares to surrender herself completely to the man and the artist she loves and trusts. It does so with restraint and subtlety.

In Rang Rasiya, we witness Ravi Varma being transformed from an unassuming but supremely talented young man to a full-fledged rebel who paves the way for a wholly new approach to art.

He marries a princess, goes the whole hog with a lowly maid for the sake of his art, earns the title of Raja from the impressed ruler of Travancore, is banished from Kerala by the latter's successor, shifts to Bombay, and secures a commission from the Maharajah of Baroda that allows him to travel the length and breadth of India in quest of inspiration.

At the end of it all, Raja Ravi Varma emerges as a successful artist who is both revered and reviled. But firm in his belief that "art is always unfettered", he continues to fearlessly ply his trade, earning many enemies in the bargain.

With the help of an Indian businessman Goverdhan Das (Paresh Rawal) and a German printer Fritz Schleizer (Jim Boeven), he sets up a lithographic printing press in Bombay that reproduces his paintings by the hundreds and thousands.

That fuels the ire of the fundamentalists and he is dragged to court for hurting the religious sentiments of the people, a plight that artists have continued to face across the country ever since.

Rang Rasiya is bolstered appreciably by the strong performances by the two principal actors - Randeep Hooda as Raja Ravi Varma and Nandana Sen as his muse in Bombay, Sugandha Bai - as well as by the formidable supporting cast (Darshan Jariwala, Vikram Gokhale, Sachin Kedekar, Ashish Vidyarthi, Paresh Rawal, Vipin Sharma, Gaurav Dwivedi).

Randeep does not strike a single false note in a complex interpretation of a towering figure, capturing the highs and lows of Raja Ravi Varma's life with effortless ease.

Rang Rasiya is as good a film as any you have, or will, see this year. Strongly recommended.

Whenever Akshay appears on screen, The Shaukeens transforms into another movie -- one that's substantially more comic, cheeky and winsome -- it's the one I enjoyed the most, it's the one I wished I had come to see.Even though there's only 15-20 minutes of him in this 124-minutes long comedy, the star (and his chart of expressions) emerges as its undisputed scene-stealer.

Light-hearted, humorous and a complete rib tickling ride, THE SHAUKEENS manages to keep you entertained all throughout. The script, which is a tad different from its 80s counterpart, has enough punch lines to keep you gripped till the end. The second half, however, has a lot more of those fun moments that will keep the smile constant on your face. The antiques, the quirks though resemble the original, they have been very aptly adapted to the contemporary times. On the whole, THE SHAUKEENS is a full on Bollywood entertainer that you wouldn't want to miss.

The trouble with The Shaukeens is that both the characters and the film as a whole hit all the wrong buttons in a bid to generate mirth.Akshay Kumar, who also doubles up as the narrator, is the only one in the cast who seems to have had a certain degree of genuine fun. The rest merely go through the motions. The leading lady of The Shaukeens ditches her boyfriend because, in her words, "he made fun of my creation and called it stupid and obnoxious". That is it: those are the very adjectives that would best describe this unfunny, eminently avoidable film.

Agreed, she looks amazing in a swimsuit, but it’s difficult to warm up to her clueless, cute act. How can a grown women like her not be aware that three old men are groping her repeatedly? The laugh-out-loud moments are few in this film and the majority of them come from Akshay Kumar’s role. As an alcoholic, bored superstar he excels. Watch this if you are a fan of Akshay Kumar and can turn a blind eye to some blatant objectification of women.

The good thing is that the film showcases exactly what it promises in the promo --- an adult comedy. There are some genuinely funny moments. So if you don’t mind three aged men with high libido and low underwear blatantly hitting on a girl who is oblivious to good touch bad touch (Lagta hain madam ne Satyamev Jayate nahi dekha!), then The Shaukeens might work for you. Watch it only if you are a die-hard Akshay Kumar fan.

The narrative, packed with inane situations, numerous quirks and wacky oddballs, is lent a breezy pace by editor Rameshwar S Bhagat. It’s only towards the nearing of the “happily ever after” that things get stretched and an unnecessary, flashy club song is inserted. It’s a flaw that could’ve been avoided, but one we are willing to overlook as a trade-off for the steady supply of giggles and laughter.
Shaukeen is the third early 1980s Hindi comedy (after Sai Paranjpye's Chashme Buddoor and Hrishikesh Mukherjee's Khubsoorat) to be remade in the span of a year.

The returns have been meager and yet it is unlikely that Bollywood is going to give up any time soon.

Devoid of the innocence and spontaneity that helped the three older comedies rise above their limitations and attain longevity, The Shaukeens shows why the classics should be left alone.

It isn't just Shaukeen that this film mercilessly cannibalizes. It also filches elements from 1971's Guddi and weaves into its messy mish-mash the story of a girl hopelessly infatuated with a movie star.

The title of the film refers to three dirty rotten scoundrels who have sex, and only sex, on their minds.

Their puerile attempts to satiate their lust do not yield much joy either for them or the audience.

The Shaukeens lacks the sense of good-natured fun that underlined the original film, in which, thanks to the efforts Ashok Kumar, Utpal Dutt and AK Hangal, the lecherous old men came across as a largely harmless trio out to seek the thrill of illicit liaisons in the autumn of their lives.

The triumvirate in The Shaukeens - three Delhi men who see girls only as objects - is unlikeable, and none of what they do in their own city or in Mauritius can be deemed to be acceptable behavior even for males half their age.
Frustrated with their lives, the three sexagenarian friends - Connaught Place shoe store owner Lali (Anupam Kher), social worker KD (Annu Kapoor) and Chawri Bazaar masala merchant Pinky (Piyush Mishra) - head out to Mauritius.

They rent the bungalow of a pretty young thing, Ahana (Lisa Haydon), a fancy-free designer who recycles used material into ready-to-wear clothes and accessories.

Having broken up with her long-time boyfriend, she aborts a planned road trip and returns to her seaside home.

The three men cannot contain their excitement on seeing the girl in their midst and decide to hit the beach with her.

The trouble with The Shaukeens is that both the characters and the film as a whole hit all the wrong buttons in a bid to generate mirth.

Akshay Kumar, who also doubles up as the narrator, is the only one in the cast who seems to have had a certain degree of genuine fun. The rest merely go through the motions.

The leading lady of The Shaukeens ditches her boyfriend because, in her words, "he made fun of my creation and called it stupid and obnoxious".

Those who are not hooked onto Hollywood films won't mind watching (former actor) Kamal Sadanah's ambitious directorial debut, which can be applauded for its novelty and decent VFX. Kamal has dared to make an animal-centric thriller, a genre unexplored in Bollywood. You can still watch the film if you are obsessed with the Sundarbans or the tigers (in that order). However, the excessively weak story acts as a major spoiler. Even as a survival thriller, it fails to hold your attention. For how long can visuals make up for a drab story?

While it is commendable and also daring on Sadanah and Rizvi's part to set and shoot a film in the Sundarbans, one wishes they'd invested as much time in developing an engaging story as they did on the visual effects.A friend summed it up best. "The audience will need tiger balm after seeing Roar."

Roar is such a bad film that despite going in with no expectations, it shocks you at being utterly stupid. It’s a shamelessly lazy film and comes with no merits of its own. This film stinks of un-intelligence and sheer lameness and is pretty much a time waste for any cinegoer unless you desire to get stoned and trip on a horrid film.

This Friday, we have two movies hitting and one of them is Roar, starring all the novices including Abhinav Shukla, Himarsha Venkatsamy, Achint Kaur, Subrat Dutta, Nora Fatehi, etc. This feature movie is directed and written by Kamal Sadanah, who is doing his debut directorial venture, while it is produced by Abiz Rizvi under the banner of his own company Abiz Rizvi Films. The music comes from John Stewart BGM, while Michael Watson carried out the task of Cinematography. The movie has loads of newcomers and novices, which means it has no higher star value, which can make the ball rolling over the box office, however, critically it can be applauded for experimenting on an untouched subject and a gripping subject.

Now, let’s check the plot of the movie. In one sentence, it is all about the Tigers of Sunderbans wherein you find a tumultuous kind of relationship between man and the beast. As we dig deeper, we find a young photojournalist called Uday who is on his assignment to click some pictures at Sundarbans. There he recues a white tiger cub found in the trap of a poacher and brings the cub back to his place wherein he is based at. Soon the panic dominates the village and in order to settle down this fuss, the forest officer takes away the cub. Then you have the entry of Royal Bengal Tigress who follows the bloodstains of the cub and reaches out to Uday’s place but on not finding the cub she kills the young photographer and vanishes away with the dead body. Soon you have Pundit the captain of elite military commando team, who happens to be Uday’s brother comes into picture to find out the dead body of his brother. However, he gets no support from the forest officer for having a complex forest ecology in order to find his brother’s dead body. He moves on his own venture with his elite commando team to find his brother’s dead body amidst all emotions and rage. Whether he finds out the dead body or not is interesting to note and how is his encounter with Royal Bengal Tigress can be worth watching.

In nutshell, Roar simply revolves the battle between man and the beast. At least, this is what you can find out after watching this two hour based movie. Amidst the fight for avenge, you could find the team moving through the thorny, swampy, green and lush locations. Soon, you see the hunted becoming the hunter. And at the end, you would see all the humans losing their lives while the tigers roar is winning the game. The movie Roar makes hardly any sense in it. It is really unnerving to note why the writer and director simply decided to turn the orange and reddish tiger into white especially when everyone is seen claiming that there is hardly any white tiger in West Bengal or Bangladesh. They took resort in Computer generated images to have white tigers perhaps to get exotic value, which they have failed miserably. The group going inside the jungles with two women with cleavage really killed the real essence of the movie. The script is seen with too many loopholes, which has no answer for the audience.

Movie Review ,Roar Tigers of the Sundarbans , bollywood latest movie review, bollywood movie release, saibal chaterjee review, Rajeev masand review, Taran Adarsh review, review, Ratings, Roar Tigers of the Sundarbans
Now, let’s check the performance department. Well, again the animal seems to be winning than the humans found in the movie. You would find the tiger with bloody mouth and electric blue eyes seem more smart than the hapless and revenge hungry human beings in it. All the lead roles in the movie happen to be novices and you cannot expect much from them except the few who also failed to impress the audience with their performance. Roping in the ace Cinematographer – Michael Watson was a wise decision though, but more often, this man was seen overdoing things especially while taking the top angles shots. Yet the sylvan Sundarbans shots captured with the quality of National Geographic Special effects then it really becomes worth watching. The music and other technical things are okay though not par yet cannot be called as ordinary ones. However, the editing part of the movie was too frivolous since it simply made the movie very much difficult to watch.

Roar Review Last Word :

Though it may be commendable efforts to see the filmmaker Rizvi and Sadanah making a movie based at Sundarbans, however, they failed to embark with some engaging story as much of the stuff was carried out using special visual effects. Their exciting and arduous experience of shooting somewhere in Bangladesh across the Sundarbans could have proved worthy for them, but for audience it really means nothing. All in all, the filmmaker failed to give something tangible rather than few good quality motion pictures, which anyone can enjoy watching the National Geographic or Animal Planate channels, so whats the use of watching a movie simply to catch a mindless avenge game of the lead character pundit.

Bollywood’s super nani (read: granny) uses only love (a whole lot of it) to reform her rowdy husband and highly obnoxious kids. While there’s no doubt that director Indra Kumar made ‘Super Nani’ with good intentions, he’s unable to translate it effectively. What he leaves us with is an excruciating headache, only because all his characters are busy screeching their lines in a drama that appears heavily influenced by Amitabh Bachchan and Hema Malini’s ‘Baghbaan’ and Bollywood of the ’60s, when social dramas made great cinema.

Super Nani Review Rating :-

One of the movies releasing this Friday is Super Nani, which has the comeback of Rekha after some time, along with Sharman Joshi, Anupam Kher, Randhir Kapoor, Shweta Kumar and Rajesh Kumar. The movie is basically a hit Gujarati play called Baa Ae Maari Boundary. The movie is directed and produced by Indra Kumar, while story comes from Vipul Mehta. The music of Super Nani is composed by Sanjeev Darshan and Harshit Saxena. The movie gives a strong message that the power of women cannot be underestimated provided they discover the same and use it. It is a story of a simple woman who turns out to be an extraordinary lady cornering everyone to win the battle of gender and generation gaps.

Now let us check the plot of this family drama. You have the character of Rekha called Bharti Bhatia, who happens to be a simple and family devoted woman. She takes care of everyone in the family wherein she has corporate king husband played by Randhir Kapoor, his son who is an aspiring stock market bull, while her daughter in law is all set to make her entry into a daily soap apart from one ultra modern daughter. She is seen too busy performing all her duties selflessly but is often humiliated and ridiculed like a servant by all her family members. The twist comes when Shraman Joshi visits his granny’s (Rekha) home. He soon realises how his granny who happens to be soft and tender lady is being commanded by one and all. This makes him lose his temper hence he decides to add something exciting in the life of his Nani.

Sharman who happens to be a failed photographer and filmmaker has returned to India to make something worthy but before that now he wants to turn his granny’s life upside down. He now changes his nani’s avatar into a modern and contemporary lady making her a successful in getting a couple of commercial ads. She soon realises that life at 60 is not an end but can have new beginning, thanks to her grandson, who has made her life a fun roller coaster ride. She rediscovers herself and soon end up becoming a brand ambassador of a popular detergent powder. The transformation from an idle woman to an ideal woman is interesting to catch especially when you have Rekha playing the character.

Well, we all know the credentials of the talented Rekha, you can very well imagine the way she has played this character. She has simply overshadowed everyone with her incredible performance and style. On other side Randhir Kapoor in the character of her husband too was decent but didn’t had much visibility in the movie to prove his worth, similar was the story of Anupam Kher who too had decent performance but was seen with a shorter roles. The others in the family were average and one-time watch characters busy in their daily Saas Bahu characters seemed okay in the movie. However, Sharman Joshi is the real gem, who played the character of Nani’s grandson incredibly. He is a versatile actor and has come a long way doing some really cool movies. His performance in Super Nani is commendable and surpassed the expectations, while his love interest Shweta Kumar who happens to be the daughter of Indra Kumar, the director and producer of the movie wasn’t that impressive for being a new face in Bollywood.

The other aspects like photography, music, editing and other things remained okay, but the script with a different storyline and message seems to be stealing the show. The movie starts up slow and dull, however, as soon as it progresses, you find a new gleam and fire in it. The entry of Shraman Joshi seems commendable, who after entering the show makes the movie worth watching and interesting and rest is the performance of Rekha who has simply stolen the hearts of critics. She has a good comeback at least if we speak critically, talking about the commercial success of the movie can be called a different topic all together.

Last word Super Nani Review :

A great comeback of Rekha in Super Nani. She has been incredible in her performance overshadowing others including Randheer Kapoor, Anupam Kher and even challenging of course the main hero of the movie Shraman Joshi. The movie is backed with a different script, however, can be still called to be a woman centric movie, which will commercially win or lose is still too early to discuss. Overall, the movie is okay with decent script and story and if you happen to be the fan of Rekha, you would certainly not going to miss out this family drama movie.

Low on logic, and high on opulence, her movies flourish on song and dance, and rides purely on Shah Rukh Khan’s shoulders, or might we add abs! Her ‘Happy New Year’, however, is her weakest dance link, or should we say the “worst” yet. It’s never about the dance but about comedy of the lowest rank and over-the-top patriotism. Armed with no real story and dialogues and scenes borrowed from SRK’s earlier films, ‘Happy New Year’s exposes Farah’s deep desire to impress SRK.

Strange moments aside, there were glimpses of Farah’s brilliant humour and not a dull (illogical and strange, yes) moment in the movie. In Happy New Year, like her previous flicks, the best is saved for the last as the entire cast and crew take part in a “Worst Dance Competition” when the credits roll. It all ends with a svelte Gauri and a cherubic  AbRam playing with his besotted dad SRK. Is sitting through the entire movie worth it just to get to the end? In this case, YES! The final word: Happy New Year is worth a watch this festive season. You will, like me, laugh throughout the movie – whether at, or with them! Dear readers, you decide.

Happy New Year (HNY) Full Movie Review 2014 Taran Rajeev Koimoi Bookmyshow

After a much hype and buzz, the Farah Khan’s movie – Happy New Year is releasing this Friday the 24th October 2014. It is a multi-starrer movie with lead actors like Shah Rukh KhanDeepika PadukoneBoman IraniSonu SoodAbhishek Bachchan and Vivaan Shah. So, you have a pool of talents coming together in a big budget and would be blockbuster movie of 2014. Besides, you have a slew of actors who are seen in special appearance. These include Dino Morea, Sarah Jane Dias, Prabhu Deva, Malaika Arora Khan, Vishal Dadlani, Sajid Khan and Anupam Kher. The music comes from the talented duo– Vishal-Shekhar, while it is directed by Farah Khan, which will be her third time with SRK after Main Hoon Na and Om Shanti Om. The movie is produced by Gauri Khan, which comes under the banner of SRK – Red Chillies Entertainment. Happy New Year is releasing three languages, Hindi, Telugu and Tamil.

Now, let’s check the plot of the movie. Well, it is all about the team of six losers coming together in some of the most incredible underdog story in order to pull out the high end and pricey diamond heist as ever. So, whether the team of losers will be able to become winners or not would be interesting to catch in the film. In nutshell, the script has loads of stuff, right from action to dance, music, let’s not forget the 123 number of Mohini performed by the then sensation called Madhuri Dixit, which rocked the eighties too seem to be present in Happy New Year in new avatar. It is performed none other than sensual leggy lass called Deepika Padukone, who is seen performing over the reminiscent 123 Number of Tezaab, which starts with the same style ‘Kaha Thi Aap’ but soon changes to a new style, which most of the critics find average on comparison to the older hit number.

Now let’s talk about the performance, well as always, Shah Rukh Khan, the Baadshah of Bollywood has overshadowed with his performance with his eight pack abs not the six ones, which he showcased for Om Shanti Om. Interestingly, he has been working hard for around a year or so to have these pack abs over his body. They seem incredible in the character of Charlie or Chandramohan Sharma be it action, romance or other things, King Khan is simply awesome in his performance. You would simply love to catch his actions underwater and perhaps would even give him more marks than his character he played in Farhan Akhtar’s Don 2 in 2012. Again his onscreen  chemistry with the leggy lass unlike the previous hit Chennai Express and Om Shanti Om seems to be gleaming up. The kind of Aura, SRK has around his persona can be deeply felt in Happy New Year unlike the way, you often discovered in his previous movies.

Next comes the leggy lass, she too has embarked as a bombshell in the movie. Don’t forget his pole dance, which seems to have been tried the first time in any Bollywood dance. The kind of heat and sensuality she has garnered with her performance and hot appearance has simply cornered everyone. Perhaps, the guys from Times of India would be badly cornered for their comments checking her haute and incredible performance in the movie. Whether it is the dance or the romance or her character, she has indeed surpassed the expectations of both her fans and critics. No more words just go and check her performance as you know the old axiom- seeing is believing. Now talking about other people, first comes Boman Irani, he is known as a versatile actor and his character of Temhton Irani has be simply awesome. Even the others including Sonu Sood, Abhishek Bachchan and yes Vivaan Shah the young and cute guy has been superb in his character of Rohan.

Now let’s talk about the music, once again the duo music directors – Vishal and Shekhar along with the lyrist Irshad Kamil is able to render good amount of fodder for the audience with great sounds. Once again they have delivered with seven different and diverse kind of original tracks comprising of a solo electronic version, medley and variation along with instrumental number. On the contrary, Farah Khan seemed more concerned about the quality of the movie rather than the songs. Getting the longevity for the album seems difficult for the composer. Perhaps it can be called as a mixed bag and to a large extent the album is no bigger than the movie itself. Yet few of the songs of the album remain at the top of the chartbuster including Manwa Lage and yes let’s not forget Kamlee.

Last Word Happy New Year Movie Review :

Happy New Year is an extravagant movie in terms of stars, music, dance and performance. It is a blend of all the masala or spices found in Bollywood as evident in any other movie particularly the SRK Films. The star value you witness in HNY has been phenomenal, thanks to stalwarts like Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, Boman Irani and yes let’s not forget Jackies Shroff who was seen in a negative character too seemed flawless over the silver screen. SRK has been proved lucky for Farah Khan, which she has failed to garner with the other stars as in the case of Tees Maar Khan. She should pay tribute to her close buddy SRK for giving a tag of a successful director, as rudely speaking she isn’t that successful without the star value of King Khan. Anyway, talking about the film, the rating can be 4 that too for SRK, Deepika and others’ performance.

 Sonali Cable Hindi Movie Review

Ratings:2.5/5 Review By: Sweta KaushalSite:Hindustan Times
Sonali Cable is single-mindedly focused on the problems it wants to highlight: corruption in our system and encroachment of big, rich players in the local market. Unfortunately, the script, selected for the Mumbai Mantra-Sundance Institute Screenwriters Lab 2012, fails horribly by the time it reaches the execution table. While Anupam, Rhea and Ali are convincing for most parts of their roles, everybody else in the film seems to be sleep-walking through their roles. A few romantic scenes between Rhea and Ali only add to the drag and soon you are left wondering if you deserved this onslaught on your senses.

Sonali Cable Hindi Movie Review

Sonali Cable after a modest buzz seems to be hitting the theaters this Friday. Starring Rhea Chakraborty, Ali Fazal, Anupam Kher, Raghav Juyal, Smita Jaykar, Muzammil Qureshi, etc, the movie is directed by Charudutt Acharya and produced by Sippy brothers (Ramesh and Rohan) and others. Music comes from Daniel B George and others, while Cinematography comes from Sudheer Palsane. The subject of the movie deals with unveiling the fierce cable internet war witnessed in the financial capital of India – Mumbai. An ordinary girl is seen waging a war against those who have monopoly in this sector keeping her everything on stake. The movie falls under low budget category, all set to hit the theatres this Friday 17th October 2014.

Now let’s check the plot of it. Sonali Dattaram Tandel played by Rhea Chakraborty is a ghetto girl of Mumbai city, who along with her internet boys are seen waging a war over greedy conglomerate, which is simply out to devastate their sprit of business. This comes into picture when her childhood love is back from the US and helps her to establish her small business in the current modern and high tech world. Everything seems to go smooth unless you find the giant of internet service provider company Mr. Vaghela played by Anupam Kher comes her way and pledges to oust her from his domain in order to rule with his monopoly in this market.

The movie also ropes in the themes regarding the growing network found in between the corporate and politician who together vow to harass common people just to make their vested interests. You can therefore call Sonali Cable to be a David Vs. Goliath story that witnesses some of the fierce kind of internet turf war in Mumbai City. Sonali is an ordinary girl who is seen putting all her life, love, peace of mind and even her sustenance at stake when she and her internet boys team is seen waging the war against the giant. They come together against the ways of country’s biggest internet service provider company’s expansion plan. The movie talks about the emerged corporate groups crushing smaller businesses without having any scope for its co-existence.

Now, let us talk about performances, Rhea Chakraborty, though new in the B Town world with not too many movies, yet has been cool in playing the character driven ghetto world so well. Though the performance cannot be called at par to ace actresses of Tinsel Town, yet considering to be a novice and playing a fierce character like this one was no simple nut to crack. You cannot ignore the fact the way she has tried hard to play a Maharashtrian girl with Mumbaia accent. Most of the time kept her spirits high to perform the way the character demands from any Bollywood actor. Anupam Kher as a cunning owner of an internet service provider company was as usual incredible in his performance. In fact, he has overshadowed everyone with his ace performance. Ali Fazal, as cute as always was seen the same in this movie, he seems to be improving with growing number of movies he has in his basket. Again the charming man had to step in the shoes of a ghetto guy based in Mumbai suburbs. While the internet boys too seemed okay in their performance, with nothing bad to talk about them at this point of time.

As far as other elements of the movie is concerned, the music was okay, though lacked some good and catching songs in it. In nutshell, Sonali Cable showcases certain average and not so popular numbers by certain upcoming music talents. Being novice, their efforts in putting an okay music can be appreciated, which can for sure improve in the coming future. Similar is the story at editing and other technicalities of the movie, which cannot be called as par to the high standards of critics, yet at times can be even regarded as decent considering the fact that you have novices in Sonali Cable.

Last Word Sonali Cable Review :

The movie can be called as a satire, which has touched an interesting subject of corporate and politician nexus. Hence in perspective of script, it has some freshness in it, let’s not forget that this script was one of the top scripts selected in Institute Screenwriters Lab 2012 beating even some of the cool ones from US and France. Sonali Cable epitomizes the character driven and roller coaster survival of a ghetto girl who with her band of internet boys takes down the powerful company in this domain. Essentially, it is an underdog story, which becomes worth watching considering a fresh and interesting script, powerful performances and cool cinematography and other elements. Considering a couple of positive points a rating of 3.5 is worthy for it.

Haider had a very good second weekend but in limited cities only.

Haider's best performances was in Delhi/NCR, Mumbai and Bangalore and was ahead of Bang Bang in these cities but Haider was poor in mass centers.

Haider has covered its costs but it will not prove very profitable for its makers

This is because Shahid and Vishal both of whom have not taken a salary to reduce costs but are on profit sharing  will take the collections beyond the costs..

The overall collections for Haider are quite respectable for an offbeat movie and it will likely be amongst Top 15 grossers of 2014 but would remain much lower than queen.

Tamanchey Hindi Movie Review

Ratings:2.5/5 Review By: Meena Iyer Site:Times Of India (TOI)
In Tamanchey, instead of a self-righteous boy serenading a vestal virgin, you have a bad boy romancing a bad girl. But does this alone qualify as a coming-of-age pulp fiction romantic thriller? By the end of the film, your answer is that only the intention should be applauded, not necessarily the execution. One star in the rating is reserved solely for the livewire, Richa Chadha. Like in Fukrey, in Tamanchey too, she gets her bindaas, badass girl act pat.

This is director Navneet Behal's debut film, but he shows little spark. There are quite a few shaky moments in the film, which could have been tackled better by Navneet in order for the film to look glossier. The dubbing seems to have gone off at quite a few places whereas the camera angles look and behave very amateurish at places, especially during the climax fight scenes. Navneet should have adopted fresh ideas in the film's plot to make it more believable. All in all, TAMANCHEY is an average fare.

Check for seasoning : is Richa Chaddha, the girl who gave off such promise in ‘Oye Lucky’, and was so striking in ‘Gangs Of Wasseypur’ well and truly buried, only able to show us weak glimpses of what she can do?

Tamanchey is funny, fast paced and fierce but begins to fizzle out just when you're starting to like it. Behal introduces both the story and the characters beautifully but in his quest of making Tamanchey the next big thing, he loses sight of what really matters. On paper, Tamanchey must have seemed like a great idea but it's transition to celluloid, perhaps, needed a stronger, more experienced director. The end, along with a good twenty minutes that precede it, seem entirely forced.

Ratings:1.5/5 Review By: Saibal Chaterjee Site:NDTV
Tamanchey falls way short of the mark. A stodgy and aimless noir drama, it is a rusty gun that fires noisy blanks without making any impact at all. The reason is obvious: the film’s makers are like a bunch of over-ambitious swimmers who’ve never been in a pool before but have ill-advisedly set out to cross the Strait of Gibraltar. The result is inevitable disaster: they do not get very far. Tamanchey makes terribly rough weather of a wafer-thin plot that plumbs the depths of outright inanity. In the end, Tamanchey is about as edifying as a mud wrestling bout with a drugged gorilla.

Tamanchey has a scene in which the lead pair starts making out during a bank dacoity. The ideas behind this sequence might be grand but how it looks on the screen is nothing more than a juvenile effort. Unfortunately, there are many such scenes in the film. Talking of pace, the editor has done a good job by keeping a fast tempo and it saves the film from falling apart in the climax, which is highly predictable.Overall, Tamanchey lacks novelty but can be watched once for its tongue in cheek dialogues.

Ratings:2.5/5 Review By: Daily Bhaskar Site:Dainik Bhaskar
The film has many loopholes, and some parts are hard to digest. But Tamanchey still qualifies for a one time watch. If you are expecting glamour of Bang Bang or class of Haider, then please plan something else for the week. But if you are a fan of crime capers, which are strange yet entertaining, then book the tickets for Tamanchey.
